VLSI Academy - Crosstalk In electronics, crosstalk is any phenomenon by which a signal transmitted on one circuit or channel of a transmission system creates an undesired effect in another circuit or channel. In this series of videos, we will discuss about various issues which we should take care of Physical design. The disturbance at 'A' can potentially cause a disturbance at 'V', because of the mutual coupling capacitance, and if the disturbance at 'V' crosses noise thresholdof the receiving gate 'R', then it may change the logic at the output of 'R' i.e., output of 'R', which is supposed to be at logic '1', might switch to logic '0', as it senses a logic '1' at its input, due to the noise induced on its input by the disturbance at 'A'. Crosstalk is a very severe effect especially in lower technology node and high-speed circuits and it could be one of the main reason of chip failure. It has effects on the setup and hold timing of the design.
