Another well-known biblical giant is Goliath of Gath (or "the Gittite"), whom the teenage David killed with a sling stone (I Samuel 17). It suggests that Og’s grandeur got the better of him, and he began to consider himself a god among puny men: May Rapiu, King of Eternity, drink [w]ine, yea, may he drink, the powerful and noble [god], the god enthroned in Ashtarat, the god who rules in Edrei, whom men hymn and honour with music on the lyre and the flute, on drum and cymbals, with castanets of ivory, among the goodly companions of Kothar…. states that the rain waters of the Flood were actually boiling hot. The angels wanted to be tested anyway, and were thus brought down into Earthly bodies. He would also go up Mount Nebo and view the land Israel was to inherit (Deuteronomy 32:48-52). Israel was nothing like we see on the movie The Ten Commandments (or some other Bible movie about the Exodus), where the depict the entire children of Israel as about 15 people with maybe four or five sheep. It took them a day or two to pass any one point from the first to the last person. God told Moses not to worry, and gave Moses the strength to slay Og himself. Og King of Bashan: Giant Warlord or Ruler of the Underworld? This character is explicitly mentioned a total of 10 times in the Torah, of which 8 are in this portion alone. The name stems from the fact that Deuteronomy is essentially a summary of the four previous books of the Torah. Despite King Og’s great size and strength, God gave Israel’s army the victory, and they possessed the land of Bashan.

His height is mentioned in 1 Samuel 17:4 which says: "And there went out a champion out of the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, of Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span." Interestingly, there are also a number of dolmen found in the modern-day area that would have been Bashan.
